That is part of the beauty of all literature. You discover that your longings are universal longings, that you’re not lonely and isolated from anyone. You belong.

                Fly

I was on my way home one day and I saw a penguin flew atop a tree. Incredulous, I walked up to it and asked how did you do that penguins aren’t supposed to fly and it replied whoever told you penguins can’t fly and I said the whole world knows penguins can’t fly and it said that’s what the whole world says.

As much as I was tempted to debate (finally, a chance to put my years of science education to good use!), I held myself back because I figured offending a talking penguin was not a very wise thing to do. So I resumed my way back home and as I was walking I thought to myself, why can’t I fly too?

                And so I flew.

But sometimes, we just have to be happy with what people can offer us. Even if it’s not what we want, at least it’s something. You know?

Some things don’t last forever, but some things do. Like a good song, or a good book, or a good memory you can take out and unfold in your darkest times, pressing down on the corners and peering in close, hoping you still recognize the person you see there.
